The Final Countdown by Asterion 13 JUN 2026 Hi again. I'm sorry for not updating this blog in a while. Although, should I really apologize? It's not like anyone reads this blog, nor is it like I'm into blogging enough to regularly maintain it anyway. I haven't been around in a few months because a) apathy, b) nothing ever happens in my life, and c) I was planning my escape from it. When I made my last post, I had already been in the early stages of planning a solo backpacking trip to another part of my state as a way of adding variety to my life. However, my goals shifted over time. My new plan was to quit my job and leave the home I've grown up in to go walk around America and see as much as I can of what this vast country has to offer. I was set to leave a few weeks from now before the month is over after doing a trial run today. But I'm not ready! I never was despite all the crap I bought. That said, I still look forward to going on my own Great American Adventure. I will take advantage of what fair weather this year has left to perfect my loadout and do more trial runs than what I could accomplish with my previous plan. By the start of summer next year, I will be ready for sure. I know it will only get worse if I stay where I am. A few walks and camping trips aren't going to fix the profound void in my life. I'll still have my distractions between my days at the sweatshop waiting for me back home. I know it can only take a profound, REVOLUTIONARY change in lifestyle to correct the course I'm on: a purposeless life of toiling to make my bosses richer lacking anything like community, love, dignity, or accomplishment. There will be various pressures I face in the meantime to acquire debt, addictions, obligations, etc. that leave me bound to the system I hate so much. I'm taking a risk by staying here nearly a year longer, but the pitfalls of unpreparedness seem more certain than the prospect of wage slavery. Until then, I guess I'll infodump here whenever I feel like it. I've had a sustained interest in cryptography and treasure hunting. My next post will be about a cipher I'm working on.
